Getting to Moeraki

Tucked along the southeast coast of New Zealand’s South Island, Moeraki is a small seaside village in the Otago region, conveniently located between Oamaru and Dunedin. 

By Road: 
Once you're in the South Island, getting to Moeraki is easy and scenic—especially by car or motorhome. Located just off State Highway 1 between Oamaru and Dunedin, Moeraki is best accessed via the Pacific Coast Highway, which offers beautiful coastal views and relaxing driving conditions. Whether you're coming from Christchurch, Queenstown, Invercargill, or elsewhere in Otago or Canterbury, the route to Moeraki includes plenty of opportunities to stop at small towns, beaches, and scenic lookouts along the way.

By Air 

Prefer a shorter drive time, or are you coming from outside of the South Island? Moeraki is easily reached from two major airports, both offering convenient connections and scenic drives. 

Nearest Airports to Moeraki: 

1. Dunedin Airport: 120 km from Moeraki (1.5 hrs by car). Regular domestic flights from Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch 
2. Christchurch Airport: Approx. 280 km from Moeraki (3.5–4 hrs by car). Major domestic and international hub

Getting to Moeraki from the Airport: 

From both of these airports, you'll need a vehicle or arrange a shuttle or private transfer to reach us. The drive is scenic and enjoyable, especially along the Pacific Coast Highway.
